Today's fish farming faces good opportunities for development in our country, but it also faces severe challenges. Variety and disease problems have become the bottleneck factor that restricts the healthy and sustainable development of fish farming in China. Therefore, strengthening basic genetic and developmental research on the improvement of important farmed fish species is an urgent requirement for further strengthening the international status of China's major aquatic producers and complying with international development trends. It is also a major strategic demand for China's national economy. Chief scientist Gui Jianfang said that the project will be centered on the Institute of Hydrobiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Genetics and Development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences with strong forces in the study of fish genetics, development, inheritance, and function genes.
