Sheep vaccination precautions

With the rapid development of sheep, there are more and more sheep diseases. Everyone has taken many measures to prevent and control sheep diseases. After years of prevention and treatment practices, vaccination is an important measure to prevent sheep infectious diseases and it is also a key point for breeding. However, in many sheep farms, immunization operations are not standardized, and some details of mistakes have occurred, resulting in the occurrence of immune failure, resulting in the onset of the flock, death, and major economic losses to the farm. In order to standardize immunization operations in sheep farms and reduce the incidence of diseases, the following points should be noted during immunization.

First, before inoculation

1. Carefully read the instructions, usage and dosage, adverse reactions, injection site, how to dilute, precautions, etc. of the vaccine.

2. Vaccines used to inoculate healthy sheep: sick (rare, cold, fever), thin, late pregnancy (except Brucella live seedlings), antibiotics used three days before inoculation should not be used.

3. Carefully check: It is found that the vaccine bottle is damaged, mixed with impurities in the seedlings, and can no longer be used.

4. Prepare the syringe and needle for disinfection (boil for 30 minutes).

5. Vaccinations are arranged on sunny days to avoid rainy days.

6. Make personal protection. Prepare disposable gloves, clothing, prevent the vaccine from coming into contact with the skin, causing allergies, infections (special attention to live seedlings)

7. To strengthen the feeding and management before vaccination, to enhance the individual's resistance to disease, reduce the vaccination stress, increase the immune effect.

Second, when inoculated

1. General sterile operation, a needle of a sheep, disinfection of the injection site. Avoid cross infection.

2. The vaccine must be ready for use. The diluted vaccine must be completed within the shortest time (2 hours) and must be used up once.

3. The vaccine is recommended to be warmed up before dilution. Take the vaccine out of the refrigerator and hold it in the palm of your hand, or let sit for a half hour at room temperature to prevent the temperature of the vaccine from being too low.

4. It is not recommended to inject two vaccines simultaneously. If there are special circumstances, live and inactivated vaccines can be considered to be injected separately at different sites.

5. Dilution of the vaccine must use a special diluent for the vaccine.

6. Before taking the vaccine, the vaccine should be fully shaken, and it should not be violently oscillated to prevent the formation of bubbles. The injection dose should be used according to the instructions and cannot be injected in large doses.

7. Choose the injection method and site when vaccinating. There are three kinds of sheep vaccine injection methods, respectively, intradermal injection, subcutaneous injection, intramuscular injection. The injection site should be selected according to the different injection methods of the vaccine. Such as sheep vaccination should be selected in the inner side of the tail for intradermal injection, only to have a bubble to be effective. Intramuscular vaccines are generally chosen to have full muscles in the neck or buttocks.

Pay special attention to the fact that in the process of injecting vaccine, it is necessary to drain the air inside the syringe and operate it correctly. Hold the needle with a cotton ball and must not allow the vaccine to be sprayed into the sheep pen. Some live vaccines scattered into the air are to inoculate your sheep with live virus. The consequences can be imagined.

8. Inoculation pregnant ewes, Baoding and injection actions should be gentle, so as not to affect the fetus, to prevent miscarriage due to rough operation.

9. Make a record, record the time of immunization, the name of the vaccine, the manufacturer, the batch number, if there is no injection, the next time you can replenish.

10. Purchase from a regular qualified vaccine sales point to prevent fake seedlings.

Third, after inoculation

1. After use, the needle and syringe should be boiled and sterilized; the clothes should be replaced when inoculated; the vaccine bottle, wiping needle cotton ball, and disposable gloves should be burned together, and should not be thrown (especially live vaccines such as ruminants). Prevent pollution of the environment and cause losses to the sheep farm.

2. After the vaccine is administered, close observation should be performed. In particular, if allergic sheep are found within 1 hour after the vaccine is injected, immediate epinephrine injection (0.5-1.5 ml per animal) or injection of dexamethasone phosphate is required. Sodium (4-12 mg per sheep, pregnant ewes not available, susceptibility to miscarriage) For those with severe allergies, chlorpheniramine can be used (1-2 ml per sheep).

3. Do not use insecticide and antibiotics and additives containing antibiotics, dexamethasone within 3 days after inoculation.
