Common faults and treatment methods for clean water pumps

The clean water pump is used for conveying clean water and other liquids with physical and chemical properties similar to clean water. It is suitable for industrial and urban water supply and drainage, high-rise building pressurized water supply, garden sprinkler irrigation, fire boosting, long-distance transportation, HVAC cycle, farmland Irrigation, bathroom and other cold and warm water circulation pressurization and equipment.

Types of clean water pumps: vertical clean water pumps, horizontal clean water pumps, single-stage clean water pumps, multi-stage clean water pumps, centrifugal clean water pumps, self-priming clean water pumps.

Pump common faults and their troubleshooting methods:

1. The pump can't start or the starting load is large. The reasons and treatment methods are as follows:
(1) The prime mover or power supply is abnormal. The solution is to check the power and prime mover conditions.
(2) The pump is stuck. The treatment method is to check the coupling by hand, and disassemble if necessary to eliminate the malfunction of the static and dynamic parts.
(3) The packing is pressed too tightly. The treatment is to relax the filler.
(4) The discharge valve is not closed. The treatment is to close the discharge valve and restart.
(5) The balance tube is not smooth. The treatment method is to clear the balance tube.

2. The pump does not drain, the reasons and treatment methods are as follows:
(1) The pump is not enough (or the gas in the pump is not exhausted). The treatment is to refill the pump.
(2) The pump is not turning right. The method of processing is to check the direction of rotation.
(3) The pump speed is too low. The treatment method is to check the rotation speed and increase the rotation speed.
(4) The filter screen is clogged and the bottom valve is not working. The treatment method is to check the filter to eliminate debris.
(5) The suction height is too high, or a vacuum appears in the aspiration tank. The treatment method is to reduce the suction height; check the suction tank pressure.

3. The pump is interrupted after draining, the reasons and treatment methods are as follows:
(1) Air leakage from the suction line. The treatment method is to check the connection of the suction side pipe and the sealing of the stuffing box.
(2) The gas on the suction side is not exhausted when the pump is pumped. The treatment method is to require refilling the pump.
(3) The suction side is suddenly blocked by foreign matter. The treatment method is to stop the pump to process the foreign matter.
(4) Inhale a large amount of gas. The treatment method is to check whether the suction port has a vortex and whether the submerged depth is too shallow.

4. The flow is insufficient, the reasons and treatment are as follows:
(1) Same as b, c. The solution is to take appropriate measures.
(2) The system has a static head increase. The method of treatment is to check the liquid level and system pressure.
(3) Increase in resistance loss. The treatment method is to check the pipeline and the check valve and other obstacles.
(4) The wear ring of the housing and the impeller is excessively worn. The treatment is to replace or repair the wear ring and the impeller.
(5) Leakage in other parts. The treatment method is to check the shaft seal and the like.
(6) The pump impeller is blocked, worn and corroded. The treatment method is cleaning, inspection and exchange.

5. The head is not enough, the reasons and treatment methods are as follows:
(1) (1), (2), (3), (4), (1) of b, and (6) of d. The solution is to take appropriate measures.
(2) Impeller mounted reverse (double suction wheel). The treatment is to check the impeller.
(3) The liquid density and viscosity do not match the design conditions. The treatment is to check the physical properties of the liquid.
(4) The flow rate is too large during operation. The solution is to reduce the flow.

6. The power consumption during operation is large, and the reasons and treatment methods are as follows:
(1) The impeller and the wear ring, the impeller and the shell are honed. The treatment is to check and repair.
(2) Same as item (4) of e. The solution is to reduce the flow.
(3) The liquid density increases. The treatment is to check the liquid density.
(4) The packing is pressed too tightly or dryly. The treatment is to loosen the packing and check the water seal tube.
(5) Bearing damage. The method of handling is to check for repair or replacement of the bearing.
(6) The speed is too high. The solution is to check the driver and power supply.
(7) The pump shaft is bent. The treatment is to correct the pump shaft.
(8) The axial force balance device failed. The treatment method is to check the balance hole and whether the return pipe is blocked.
(9) The coupling is poorly aligned or the axial clearance is too small. The method of treatment is to check the alignment and adjust the axial clearance.

7. Pump vibration or abnormal sound, the reasons and treatment methods are as follows:
(1) Items (c), (5), (7), and (9) of the same c. The solution is to take appropriate measures.
(2) The vibration frequency is 0~40% working speed. Excessive bearing clearance, loose bearing bush, impurities in oil, poor oil quality (viscosity, temperature), oil foaming due to air or process liquid, poor lubrication, bearing damage. The treatment method is to take corresponding measures, such as adjusting the bearing clearance, removing impurities in the oil, and replacing the new oil.
(3) The vibration frequency is 60%~100% working speed. The bearing problem is the same as (2), or the sealing gap is too large, the retaining ring is loose, and the seal is worn. The treatment is to check, adjust or replace the seal
(4) The vibration frequency is 2 times the working speed. Misalignment, loose coupling, friction of sealing device, deformation of housing, bearing damage, bearing resonance, damage to thrust bearing, shaft bending, poor fit. The treatment method is to check and take corresponding measures to repair, adjust or replace.
(5) The vibration frequency is n times the working speed. Pressure pulsation, no center, shell deformation, seal friction, bearing or foundation resonance, pipeline, machine resonance, treatment method is the same (4), reinforcement foundation or pipeline.
(6) The vibration frequency is very high. Shaft friction, seals, bearings, imprecision, bearing shake, poor shrink fit, etc. The treatment method is the same as (4).

8. Bearing heating, the reasons and treatment are as follows:
(1) Bearing tile scraping is not satisfactory. The method of disposal is to repair the bearing pads or replace them.
(2) The bearing clearance is too small. The treatment is to re-adjust the bearing clearance or scrape.
(3) The amount of lubricating oil is insufficient and the oil quality is poor. The treatment is to increase the amount of oil or to change the oil.
(4) Poor bearing assembly. The treatment method is to check the bearing assembly condition as required and eliminate the unqualified factors.
(5) Cooling water is broken. The treatment method is inspection and repair.
(6) The bearing is worn or loose. The treatment is to repair the bearings or scrap. If the pine association, re-tighten the bolts.
(7) The pump shaft is bent. The treatment is to correct the pump shaft.
(8) The oil ring is deformed, the oil ring cannot be rotated, and the oil is not oiled. The treatment method is to update the oil ring.
(9) The coupling is poorly aligned or the axial clearance is too small. The method of treatment is to check the alignment and adjust the axial clearance.

9. The shaft seal is hot, and the reasons and treatment methods are as follows:
(1) The packing is pressed too tightly or rubbed. The treatment is to loosen the packing and check the water seal tube.
(2) The water seal ring and the water seal tube are misplaced. The method of processing is to recheck the alignment.
(3) Flushing and cooling are good. The treatment method is to check the flushing cooling circulation pipe.
(4) The mechanical seal is faulty. The treatment is to check the mechanical seal.

10. The rotor is turbulent, the reasons and treatment methods are as follows
(1) Improper operation, operating conditions away from the design conditions of the pump. Treatment: Strict operation, so that the pump is always running near the design conditions.
(2) The balance is not smooth. The treatment method is to clear the balance tube.
(3) The balance plate and the balance plate are not suitable. The treatment method is to replace the balance plate and the balance plate with the material that meets the requirements.

11. The occurrence of water hammer, the reasons and treatment are as follows:
(1) Due to sudden power failure, the system pressure fluctuates, and the negative pressure of the discharge system occurs. The bubbles dissolved in the liquid escape to cause gas in the pump or pipeline. The treatment is to drain the gas.
(2) The high-pressure liquid column is quickly poured back due to a sudden power failure, and the impact is on the pump outlet check valve plate. The treatment method is to modify the arrangement of pipelines and pipeline accessories for the unreasonable discharge system of the pump.
(3) The valve of the outlet pipe is closed too fast. The treatment is to slowly close the valve.

Clear water centrifugal pump failure and treatment methods:
Phenomenon 1: The pump does not absorb water, and the pressure gauge and vacuum gauge pointer are placed.
Cause: The amount of water injected into the pump is not enough, and the water pipe or instrument leaks.
Disposal: Fill the pump with water or tighten the leaking air.
Phenomenon 2: The pump and the suction vacuum gauge show a high vacuum.
Cause: The bottom valve is not open or has been fouled, and the suction pipe resistance or height is too large.
Disposal: Correct or replace the bottom valve, clean or replace the suction pipe, and reduce the height of the suction pipe.
Phenomenon 3: The pressure gauge shows the pressure, but the water pipe does not produce water.
Cause: The outlet pipe resistance is too high or the impeller is blocked and the direction of rotation is wrong.
Handling: Check or shorten the water pipe, check the motor, and clean the impeller.
Phenomenon 4: Low flow.
Cause: The pump is fouled and the ring is too worn.
Handling: Wash the water pump and water pipe and replace the ring.
Phenomenon 5: The sound inside the pump is abnormal, and the pump does not get water.
Cause: The flow rate is too large, the internal resistance of the suction pipe or the height is too large, the air leaks into the air, and the temperature is too high.
Disposal: Slightly close the exit door to reduce the flow, reduce the internal resistance or water absorption height, tighten the leaking place and reduce the liquid temperature.
Phenomenon 6: The pump consumes too much power.
Cause: The stuffing box is squeezed too tight, the impeller is worn, and the water supply is increased.
Treatment: Clean the stuffing box, replace the impeller, and increase the resistance of the outlet pipe.
