Metal detection in bread flour

Metal detection in bread flour

Founded in 1919 by the Carl and Josef brothers in Traustein, Bavaria, Gebrüder Leimer is a fine traditional bread dessert producer. Under the leadership of Karl Leimer, the company grew into a well-known international company with the slogan "Quality through freshness", which is the secret of their success. The raw material flour comes from the local mill and is processed into bread flour, bread crumbs and soup bread ingredients. The entire production line is fully automated and the product packaging is also completed by off-the-shelf packaging machines and cartoners. From the raw materials to the finished product, the factory will periodically take some samples and send them to the research room for inspection by food experts.

Leimer has acquired the HACCP concept under the existing quality management system and has obtained advanced IFS certification. Every product batch from product raw material to finished product has a record to follow, and BIO certification also ensures Leimer's work efficiency. In order to ensure that the entire production line is free from metal contamination, Leimer chose the GF 4000 metal separator from S+S (Shuangshi Sorting Technology Co., Ltd.).

The GF 4000 metal separator separates all metal impurities from the bread flour, whether ferromagnetic or non-ferromagnetic. The bread powder is conveyed in a continuous vacuum, and the impurity is removed by a quick-flap system. Therefore, only a few benign materials are removed together with the impurities, and the material loss is small. The metal separator is mounted vertically in the existing vacuum conveying system without any modifications to the existing piping layout. All components of the metal separator also meet Leimer's stringent food hygiene requirements. GENIUS controllers use multi-frequency digital signal processing technology, which can be well combined with the detection head. The controller can be installed separately from the inspection system. The controller can be installed up to about five meters away from the inspection system according to the needs of the site.

As the Gebrüder Leimer KG plant Karlheinz Leimer concluded: "The S+S metal separator GF 4000 performs very well in practical applications. The system operates stably and accurately. Easy cleaning is another advantage of this metal separator. We are fully convinced. S+S's concept of 'fully meeting the needs of the food industry'. For example, this system can be integrated into our quality assurance system without barriers. Traceable data and archiving also guarantee this."
