The technical point of cultivation of muddy seedlings
After hatching from the muddy seedlings, the yolk sac disappeared within three days, allowing the fry to swim freely and begin feeding. It is essential to transfer them to nursery ponds promptly—preferably by keeping them in small tanks or ponds where they were originally hatched. The stocking density should be around 800–1000 fry per square meter. The nursery pond area should not be too large, ideally between 50–100 square meters, to ensure better control and easier management. The pond should be dug out to a depth of 20–30 cm, and before stocking, it must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Applying organic livestock fertilizer helps to cultivate natural food organisms like plankton, which are essential for the early growth of the fry.
At the initial stage, only a small amount of water is added to the fish slide to help the fry adapt. Once they become accustomed to their environment, the water level is gradually raised to the desired depth, allowing even distribution of the fry throughout the pond. Feeding should start with finely ground egg yolk, fish meal, milk powder, and soy milk. After a few days, the diet can be transitioned to boiled bran, corn flour, wheat flour, and soft vegetable leaves. As they grow, you can introduce animal-based feeds such as fish, shrimp, and snail scraps. Feed them 3–4 times daily, starting with 2–5% of their body weight in the early stages, increasing to 8–10% as they mature.
After about one month in the nursery, the fry will grow to approximately 3–4 cm in length and weigh around 0.4–0.5 grams. At this point, when they start to dig into the mud, they are ready to be moved to larger ponds, rice fields, or wooden crates for further growth and development. This careful management ensures optimal conditions for their survival and healthy development.
