In a pig farm in Zhoudian Village, Xuchang County, 80 pigs weighing 45 kg were reared. On Jun. 19, 2005, the disease suddenly developed. The body temperature increased to 41°C to 42°C. The skin was white and individual vomiting was diagnosed by local veterinarians. No name high fever. The use of aminopyrine, penicillin and other drugs to treat invalid, June 27 came to our hospital for diagnosis and treatment, clinical examination, autopsy, laboratory diagnosis was diagnosed as mixed infection of pseudorabies and Eperythrozoonosis in pigs.

1 Incidence

The pig farm bought 80 piglets from the field in early May. After being bought back, swine fever vaccines, swine erysipelas, porcine combined vaccine and streptococcal vaccine were injected. On June 19th, the pig suddenly became ill. The body temperature increased to 41°C-42°C. The appetite decreased or was abandoned. The spirit was depressed, the skin was whitened, and vomiting began. The aminopyrine, penicillin, dexamethasone, and clindamycin were used. With drug treatment, the effect was not only not obvious, but the more severe the disease was, the worse the condition continued to develop. As of June 27, the incidence was 23 and 7 deaths.

2 clinical symptoms

Increased body temperature to 41°C to 42°C, loss of appetite or waste, depression, vomiting, purple eyes, eye discharge, difficulty breathing, skin whitening, severe skin (inside of leg), purple, pull dry Excrement, some diarrhea faeces have bad odor, red urine, individual convulsions, walking instability.

3 pathological changes

Thin blood, laryngeal edema, bleeding in the throat mucosa, bleeding at the bottom of the stomach, liver enlargement, pale kidney, bleeding, swollen spleen, enlarged lymph nodes, bleeding bladder mucosa.

4 laboratory diagnosis

4.1 Bacterial culture

Sterilely inoculate on common medium, incubate at 37°C, observe the results after 24 hours, grow aseptically.

4.2 Fresh blood pressure microscopy

Take a drop of ear tip blood of febrile pigs, add the same amount of normal saline, drip on the slide glass, cover the glass slides, under the oil lens, the red blood cells show irregular shapes such as pineapple shape, stick shape, and the surface covered with transparent small particles .

4.3 Serological examination

Using a latex agglutination test, 9 serum samples from the sick pigs were collected. As a result, 7 serum samples were found to be positive.

5 Prevention measures

Isolation of sick pigs, with 5% to 10% strong disinfection, thorough disinfection of pig houses, feeding troughs and tools. For those pigs that did not develop the disease, the pseudorabies attenuated vaccine was used for emergency prevention. Each 5 ml of muscle was injected intramuscularly and drinking water was electrolyzed. After two days, there were two pigs. Afterwards, there was no recurrence of the pig and the transmission was stopped.

Treatment with interleukin-2, intramuscular injection at 1 ml per 20 kg body weight, once daily for 3 days; simultaneous use of long-acting oxytetracycline (demimin) 0.1 ml/kg body weight, intramuscularly, once daily 3 days; compound astragalus polysaccharides, intramuscular injection of 0.1 ml per kilogram of body weight; 800 grams of oxytetracycline powder per kilogram of feed, fed continuously for 5 days, 7 days after the recovery of sick pigs.
