First, the symptoms:
The affected mushrooms initially show brown tumors on the surface of the cap and stem. These lesions gradually expand and eventually form a layer of white mold over the mushroom's surface. As the disease progresses, the infected mushrooms begin to develop abnormally, turning into an amorphous white mass. Some mushrooms may have overly thick stems and deformed caps, while others shrink and become soft. The affected areas often exude a brown, sticky liquid with a strong, unpleasant odor.
Second, control methods:
1. Promptly remove the infected mushrooms. Dig out the mushrooms along with the culture medium up to 10 cm deep and dispose of them away from the growing area to prevent further spread.
2. Apply protective sprays. Before the mushrooms start to grow, spray the cover surface with a Bordeaux mixture (1:1:300 ratio) to reduce the chances of infection.
3. Improve air circulation within the mushroom house. Proper ventilation helps lower both temperature and humidity, creating an environment less favorable for the pathogen to thrive.
In addition, it is important to maintain good hygiene practices in the growing area. Regularly clean tools and equipment to avoid cross-contamination. Monitoring the moisture levels closely can also help in early detection of any potential issues. If the problem persists, consider consulting a local agricultural expert for more targeted solutions.
