At the recent International Fair of Agribusiness Feed & Food, BRF Ingredients made a significant splash by presenting its comprehensive range of Feed and Food products. Among these offerings was the debut of their groundbreaking ingredient, BioActio Efficiency Enzymatic Hydrolysate of Feathers. This innovative product leverages the power of feathers, which are subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis to unlock their full potential.
The enzymatic hydrolysis process breaks down protein molecules into smaller units, creating an ingredient brimming with bioactive peptides. These peptides play a crucial role in enhancing the health and metabolism of animals across various sectors of Animal Nutrition. Scientific evidence clearly demonstrates that incorporating BioActio Efficiency into the diets of aquatic and swine species leads to more efficient animal nutrition and offers better cost-effectiveness for producers.
BioActio Efficiency delivers several key advantages for animal performance. The presence of bioactive peptides within the ingredient ensures they perform specific functions within the animal’s body, showcasing both antioxidant and antidiabetic properties, as confirmed by in vitro analysis. Additionally, the ingredient is designed to be easily absorbed and quickly metabolized, significantly boosting weight gain and improving food conversion rates in animals.

Food conversion rates improved by 31% in post-larvae and 18% in fingerlings, with final growth rates surging by 42% and 23%, respectively.
Shrimp farming also benefited from the inclusion of BioActio Efficiency. In the nursery phase, there was a 4% increase in weight, a 15% rise in biomass, and a 6% improvement in food conversion rates. Moving into the fattening phase, the ingredient boosted weight by 18%, biomass by 17%, and reduced food conversion rates by 5%.
For swine nutrition, BioActio Efficiency proved highly palatable, leading to an impressive 87% preference for piglet feed. These outcomes, among others, were meticulously documented through rigorous testing and research conducted by BRF Ingredients in collaboration with partner universities and research institutions. These findings were benchmarked against control diets and traditional fish hydrolysates.
