Increased crop yield and efficiency with applied crop ash

Plant ash is the residue left after burning agricultural stalks and firewood. It has a light texture, strong heat absorption, and moisture retention properties. It is rich in essential nutrients such as potassium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium, and sulfur, with potassium content reaching up to 5%-10%. While it's not recommended for alkaline soils, it works well with various soil types and crops. It’s especially beneficial for potassium-demanding crops and can be used as a base fertilizer, seed fertilizer, or top dressing, making it a high-quality organic fertilizer. 1. **Promote Seed Germination**: Applying a layer of 0.5-1 cm of plant ash over seeds, seedlings, or young plants helps raise soil temperature, improves soil aeration, and encourages faster germination and uniform emergence. This also increases seed viability and results in stronger, healthier seedlings. 2. **Ideal Potting Mix Component**: Adding 5%-20% plant ash to potting soil for flowers and fruit plants enhances nutrient availability, sterilizes the soil, and controls pests. It improves soil structure, promotes root development, and is especially effective for bulbous plants, tuber crops, and flowering or fruit-bearing species. 3. **Strengthen Leaves and Fruits**: Spraying an 8% plant ash solution on leaves can thicken stems, boost chlorophyll production, and enhance photosynthesis. This helps prevent leaf yellowing, improves flower color, and supports the development of strong, healthy fruits. 4. **Improve Crop Quality**: Applying a 5%-8% ash leachate before and after flowering helps prevent nutrient deficiencies, promotes greener foliage, enhances photosynthesis, reduces leaf drop, flower fall, and fruit drop, and encourages better fruit size and color development. 5. **Pest Control**: Plant ash can be applied to flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees to suppress diseases like powdery mildew and rust. Spreading 30-50 kg of ash per 667 square meters (about one acre) helps prevent blight and control underground pests. For root rot in hibiscus or other plants, treat affected roots by cleaning and disinfecting them, then cover with plant ash. Using wood ash to store seeds helps absorb excess moisture and prevents insect infestation and mold. A 2% foliar spray of ash leachate is effective against pests like locusts, red spiders, and pear hibiscus, while also improving fruit sweetness and appearance.
