Cow Breeding "Three Multiple Methods"

In beef cattle production, the simultaneous estrus and ovulation method is widely used to streamline management and marketing efforts. This approach ensures that cattle are raised under uniform conditions, allowing for synchronized fattening and slaughter. By inducing cows to come into heat at the same time, farmers can plan breeding, calving, and marketing more efficiently. The primary technique involves suppressing estrus and dissolving the corpus luteum, enabling a controlled and synchronized ovulation period. To enhance productivity and profitability, breeders also focus on improving fertility in cows. One key aspect is the development of sex control technology, which allows for the selective reproduction of desired offspring. This biotechnology helps meet specific breeding goals, whether it's increasing the number of females for milk production or males for beef. In addition to natural factors, techniques such as adjusting the vaginal pH during estrus have been explored to influence reproductive outcomes. Heifers are typically singletons, with a natural twin rate ranging from 0.29% to 3.5%. To boost fertility and reduce breeding costs, artificial induction of twins has become an important practice. Current methods include genetic selection, exogenous hormone treatments, and embryo transfer. Among these, embryo transfer is considered the most effective. It involves transferring one embryo into each horn of the uterus around day 6 to 7 after estrus. This method is highly regarded for its success in producing twins. Another common approach combines artificial insemination with embryo transfer. After mating, two embryos are implanted into the cow’s womb within 6 to 7 days, significantly increasing the chances of twin births. These advanced techniques not only improve breeding efficiency but also contribute to higher economic returns in the cattle industry. As research continues, new methods may further enhance reproductive performance and sustainability in beef production.
