Cucumbers in early spring must prevent devastating

When cucumbers are cultivated in early spring, they are highly susceptible to damping-off caused by high humidity levels. Symptoms typically appear as yellowing stems at the base or middle of the plant, leading to seedling death if not addressed promptly. To manage this issue effectively, several preventive and control measures should be taken. Before sowing, it is recommended to soak the seeds in a mixture of 1500 times diluted Shennong chelating fertilizer, 5000 times diluted Yunda 120, and 1000 times diluted potassium permanganate for 5 to 6 hours. This helps eliminate bacteria that may be present on the seed surface. At the time of transplanting, the same solution can be used to drench the roots, ensuring that any remaining bacteria on the seedlings are also eliminated. After planting, apply fungicides such as metalaxyl (800 times dilution), "FF cream" (600 times dilution), or carbendazim (800 times dilution) two to three times. It's important to thoroughly wet the roots and the stem base during each application. Repeat the treatment every 7 to 10 days for effective control. In addition to chemical treatments, it's beneficial to sprinkle a small amount of ash around the roots and stem necks every 2 to 3 days. This helps reduce moisture and prevents fungal growth. Perform this practice 3 to 5 times throughout the growing period. Maintaining good air circulation and avoiding overwatering are also essential for preventing damping-off. By combining these cultural, biological, and chemical methods, cucumber growers can significantly reduce the risk of damping-off and ensure healthier, more vigorous plants.
