When cucumbers are cultivated in early spring, they are highly susceptible to damping-off caused by high humidity levels. This disease typically manifests as yellowing stems at the base or middle of the plant, leading to the eventual death of the seedlings. To prevent this, it's essential to implement proper preventive measures from the very beginning.
Before sowing, soak the seeds in a mixture of 1500 times diluted Shennong chelating fertilizer, 5000 times diluted Yunda 120, and 1000 times diluted potassium permanganate for 5 to 6 hours. This helps eliminate bacteria that may be attached to the seeds. At the time of transplanting, dip the roots into the same solution to further reduce the risk of bacterial infection on the seedlings.
After planting, apply fungicides such as metalaxyl (diluted 800 times), ff cream (diluted 600 times), or carbendazim (diluted 800 times) two to three times. Make sure to thoroughly wet the roots and the lower part of the stem. Repeat the application every 7 to 10 days for continued protection.
